Learn the Workplace - Newcomers to Canada will notice that some things are different in the workplace. There are certain ways of doing things, common ways to work with others and accepted behaviours. This is called the Canadian workplace culture. Much of the workplace culture is not written down. The newcomer has to figure this out on their own. This can be very frustrating!






CertWORK - Manufacturers are interested in recognizing the skills and abilities of newcomers to Canada in the area of entry-level management. Underemployed newcomers prepare a portfolio with help from a workplace mentor that is assessed to a set of standards developed by the manufacturing industry. A successful candidate will be certified through the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters of Manitoba as a manager in manufacturing.


WESLAT - The WESLAT is a tool to assess learning in an organization. The tool provides information to organizations about their workplace learning to identify strengths and learning gaps. It is free and easy to administer.
